Oklahoma: City and County Rates Announced — Oct. 26, 2021

Effective October 1, 2021, the following Oklahoma cities and counties will have sales and use tax rate changes as follows:

Cities:

  • Braman increases its sales and use tax rate from 3% to 4%.
  • Jones increases from 4% to 5%.
  • Kingfisher increases from 3% to 3.5%.
  • Locust Grove increases from 4.5% to 5%.
  • Luther increases from 3% to 4%.
  • Stillwell increases from 3.5% to 3.75%.

Counties:

  • Jackson County increases from 0.625% to 1.125%.
  • Pawnee County decreases from 2% to 1.25%.

Minnesota: Excise and Sales Tax Rates for 2022 Announced — Oct. 26, 2021

Effective January 1, 2022, cigarette sales and excise tax rates for Minnesota have been set as follows:

  • Sales tax: 3.315 cents per cigarette. (66.3 cents per 20-pack and $6.63 per carton)
  • Excise Tax: 15.2 cents per cigarette. ($3.04 per 20-pack and $30.40 per carton)

Indiana: Use Tax Rate on Gasoline for November 2021 Announced — Oct. 25, 2021

The Indiana gasoline use tax rate for the month of November 2021 is $0.179 per gallon. The tax rate was calculated by the statewide average retail price per gallon of gas ($2.5570) multiplied by the state retail tax percent (7%).

Michigan: Prepaid Sales Tax Rates for Fuel Announced — Oct. 12, 2021

Effective from November 1, 2021, through November 30, 2021, the prepaid rates on fuel in Michigan are as follows:

  • The prepaid rate for gasoline decreases to 16.6 cents per gallon. 
  • The prepaid rate for diesel fuel increases to 17.2 cents per gallon.

Alabama: Local Tax Rates Increased for Marengo County — Oct. 8, 2021

Effective November 1, 2021, for the following categories, the sales and use tax rates will increase as follows:

  • The rates for general items, admissions to places of amusement and entertainment, and retail sales of food for human consumption sold through vending machines will increase from the current 2% to the new rate of 3%.
  • The rates for the net difference paid for machines, machinery, and equipment used in planting, cultivating, and harvesting farm products, the rate for machines, parts, and attachments for machines used in manufacturing tangible personal property, and the rate for net difference paid for all automotive vehicles, truck trailers, semi-trailers, and house trailers will all decrease from the current 1.15% to the new rate of 0.45%.

Florida: 1% Small County Surtax added for Glades County — Oct. 7, 2021

Effective January 1, 2022, Glades County Board of County Commissioners will adopt a 1% small county surtax.

The combined state and local sales and use tax rate for Glades County will continue to be 7%, this is composed of the state 6% sales tax, and the current 1% local government infrastructure surtax that is set to expire on December 31, 2021, and be replaced by the 1% small county surtax

The small county surtax will sunset December 31, 2031.
